March 23 Emory University, Atlanta GA and March 27 Vanderbilt University, Nashville TN: Paul Dresher Electro-Acoustic Ensemble Concert Program: a commission of Terry Riley's Piano Concerto featuring Terry Riley as the piano soloist with the Electro-Acoustic Band. Violinist Tracy Silverman will also be featured as soloist in Terry Riley's work and in Paul Dresher's violin concerto. (Joel will be playing Marimba Lumina.) Plus the new Cello concertos of Anthony Davis and Paul Dresher with Jean Jeanrenaud (formerly of the Kronos Quartet) as soloist.

April 5, 2002: Joel joins Don Buchla and Peter Apfelbaum to form "Fried Suck." Performing the evening concert on Marimba Lumina, Lightning, Saxophone and early Buchla instruments at the SEAMUS convention at the Univerist of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.
